If you have a beautiful PVC floor or PU cast floor, then you’ve probably heard of plasticizers. Almost every plastic contains plasticizers to keep the material supple and flexible, so do PVC and PU castfloors. But a doormat also contains plasticizers. Certain plasticizers are known to be harmful to floors, such as phthalates. When two products with (harmful) plasticizers, for example a doormat in combination with a PVC floor, come into contact with each other, a chemical reaction can occur that can cause discoloration. And you want to avoid that, of course. Fortunately, our phthalate-free* mats are free of phthalates!
This minimizes the risk of a reaction with your floor and makes the phthalate-free custom doormat the best choice for any floor. Of course, again, you are assured of customization because you are in charge of the size of your mat!

Perhaps you already knew, but your new PVC floor or PU cast floor is made of plastics. To make plastics supple, flexible and applicable, they contain plasticizers. Certain plasticizers are known to be harmful, such as phthalates. When two products containing (harmful) plasticizers are in contact for a longer period of time, a chemical reaction can occur. This can cause discoloration to become visible, for example. Each doormat also has a plastic backing, which therefore also contains plasticizers. A phthalate-free* custom mat with edge, however, features a 100% Nitrile backing that is free of phthalates and thus of most harmful plasticizers. This minimizes the risk of a reaction with your floor and makes the phthalate-free* custom mat the best choice for your new floor. Our custom made mats with edging are great for keeping all dirt and moisture out. This will keep your floor as beautiful as when it was just laid. By the way, the Nitrile rubber backing not only protects your floor, but also anyone using the mat. The Nitrile rubber backing has an anti-slip effect, which is very safe!
Another plus of the Nitrile rubber backing is that it is extremely flexible. Therefore, you can feel free to put these doormats in your washing machine for machine washing. Do not wash the doormat hotter than 45ºC and do not use fabric softener. Fabric softener prevents the doormat from absorbing moisture. After drying, the mat is like new again and ready to be attacked again by dirty and damp paw pads.
Because we assume with phthalate-free* mats that they will be placed on the floor and not in a recess, they come standard with a border all around. The anti-slip undermat can be used when the mat is placed on a smooth surface. The mat has a standard size of 60x60cm, but can easily be cut to the desired size with scissors.
If the mat is larger than 60x60cm, multiple anti-slip undermats can be used.
Measure the depth and dimensions of the recess to determine the height to be filled. It is possible to stack multiple filler mats on top of each other to get the right height.

Use the Mattigo cutting knife to cut out the corner of the threshold or door frame from the mat so that the mat fits perfectly in the space where you have designed it.
