Cut your custom doormat in 5 easy steps
You’ve purchased a beautiful custom doormat from Mattigo.com, and you’re thrilled with it. However, sometimes you may need to trim the mat to fit around a doorpost or threshold. With this guide, any handyman or handywoman can get the job done effortlessly.
Tools you’ll need to trim your custom doormat:
- Measuring tape to measure accurately
- Sharp utility knife for cutting
- Set square or straightedge for precise lines
- Pen or white marker for markings
- Optional: paper for jotting down measurements
How to trim your custom doormat in 5 steps
Step 1
Measure the area where the doormat will be placed. Tip: measure the length and width at multiple points since the space may not be perfectly square. Write the dimensions down if needed.
Step 2
Place the doormat upside down with the black backing facing up. Mark the area to be cut using a white marker or pen. Remember to mark in reverse since the mat is flipped. Double-check your markings by positioning the mat in place.
Step 3
Place the mat back on a flat surface with the backing facing up. Be cautious not to damage the surface underneath while cutting. Use a set square or straightedge for clean lines, and carefully cut the mat using a sharp utility knife. Take your time and ensure precision.
Step 4
Finished cutting? That wasn’t so hard, was it? Brush off loose fibers or vacuum the mat. Place it in position by your door and admire the result!
Step 5
To ensure your mat lasts for years: shake it out or vacuum it regularly. Your mat will appreciate the care! Remove stains with warm water and mild soap.
Enjoy your new custom doormat!
